Outdoor Televisions - FAQ
FAQs
What makes the MirageVisionTM Outdoor LCD HD TV unique?
Its cabinet and interior components have been customized to withstand the harsh outdoor environment. In addition, the enhanced picture quality allows outdoor sunlight viewing.
What is the big deal about Flat Panel LED Technology?
LED BackLight Side Panel Technology is the latest breakthrough in LCD Flat Panel HDTV. The LED Panel Backlight burns cooler, is brighter, has higher contrast, uses less power and has a better life span than the traditional florescent backlight bulbs. This new technology is a perfect match for our MirageVision Outdoor TV’s. Our new LED Backlight MirageVision TV’s picture quality is brighter, has higher contrast, has more vivid colors, burns cooler, and its life expectancy should be greater compared the NON-LED Units, not to mention…it is thinner (1.2 inches) and lighter (our 55″ is only 49 lbs.) that equates to easier installation and less shipping cost.
Is the MirageVisionTM LCD HD TV waterproof?
No. Our MirageVisionTM LCD HD TVs are designed to resist downward rain and snow, but are not made to be waterproof. The MirageVisionTM LCD HD TV is considered water and weather resistant. As a matter of fact, there are NO other residential TVs that have been tested to be waterproof. All indoor and outdoor LCD TVs must be designed to allow the inside cabinet’s hot air to escape. Our MirageVisionTM LCD HD TVs come with a waterproof cabinet cover that should remain on when the TV is not in use.
Will the MirageVisionTM LCD HD TV give you the same picture quality in outdoor sunlight as an LCD HD TV installed indoors?
No. Even though our MirageVisionTM LCD HD TV is equipped with enhanced picture quality and an increased contrast and brightness for outdoor sunlight, obviously, the TV will have a better picture in a shaded area or when not installed in full direct sunlight - just like your indoor TV.
Will moisture or humidity damage the MirageVisionTM LCD HD TVs?
The MirageVisionTM LCD HD TV internal circuitry is coated with a special silicone-based solution that prevents internal moisture from shorting out the internal circuitry.
How can the MirageVisionTM LCD HD TVs breathe and still repel down pouring rain?
All MirageVisionTM LCD HD TVs are equipped with rear cabinet RainGuardTM Technology that allows internal hot air to escape, while it repels down pouring rain or snow. This is crucial to prolong the life of your TV.
How will the MirageVisionTM LCD HD TV exterior cabinet hold up in ultra high UV or extremely cold environments?
The outside cabinet of the MirageVisionTM LCD TV is coated with a UV/Teflon Coating by Dupont. Please keep in mind that when the MirageVisionTM LCD HD TV is installed in a salt air environment, some pitting or fading may occur over time.
When the MirageVisionTM LCD HD TV is installed outside, do you have to run multiple wires to the set?
You can eliminate the use of running Video/RF Coax and Audio wires from the indoor source to the outside TV by using our (OPTIONAL) Digital Wireless Video/Audio Package. You can install the transmitter indoors (at your source) so it transmits the Video (S-Video) and Audio signal out to the MirageVisionTM LCD HD TV internal up-conversion built-in receiver.
What is the best way to install the MirageVisionTM LCD HD TV for the best quality HD Picture?
For the best possible picture quality you should install either an HD satellite receiver or an HD cable box directly to the MirageVisionTM LCD HD TV’s component jacks or HDMI jack. Using the Optional Wireless Fully HD Package will provide wireless 1080p full HD signal to be sent from your in-home source outdoors to your MirageVision TV. For professional installation, you should contact a local TV/electronic integrator specialist.
Is the MirageVisionTM LCD HD TV warranted for outdoor use?
Yes, the MirageVisionTM LCD TV is warranted for One Year Parts and Labor. Most indoor LCD TVs carry only a 90 day Manufacturers Warranty.
Why should I pay the extra cost of having a TV made for the outdoors? Why don’t I just buy an indoor LCD or plasma set and install it outdoors?
First of all, a plasma TV is filled using a gas technology which will not withstand hot and cold environments. An LCD TV is filled using liquid crystal (sand like) technology, which is much better for outdoor use. Secondly, indoor TVs are not weather-proofed, so moisture, humidity, and rain would enter the TVs interior and cause the internal circuitry to short out. Insects can also get into the interior and they are also a conductor of electricity and can cause a circuit to short out. Excessive dust will also damage the indoor TV. Thirdly, you won’t even be able to see the picture of an indoor TV in the daylight hours if it is installed outdoors. And last, but not least, the outdoor elements, such as UV, ice, salt air & etc., will degrade the indoor (unprotected) TV very quickly.
Can you install the MirageVisionTM LCD HD TV right next to your pool or spa?
You should always install your Outdoor MiragVision LCD HD TV at least 5 to 10 feet from any swimming pool, spa or any standing water. Most cities have electrical codes that will not allow any electrical within a certain distance from pools and spas.
